Reinstalling DX 9c and SP2 Qs
Reinstalling DX 9c and SP2 Qs
Anyone have issues reinstalling DX9c? is it "bad" to just reinstall it?
And SP2, ive "heard" that its possible my "poor" direct X performance could be due to SP2, and i should downgrade to SP1.. now, color (colour) me ignorant, but is that REALLY a huge issue? or should i seriously consider downgrading to sp1..

And I just got my hands on an OCZ PowerStream for $85 shipped. w00t
Granted it's only 420 watts, but as I wont be going SLI, that should be plenty. It's replacing my 430 watt Enermax. lol
I figure once I sell the Enermax (great PSU, but low on features and only a 20-pin connection) it should cost me under $20.

Well.. Opengl performance is great.. 68.3fps in the doom3 timedemo in 1280x1024 ultra detail..Psyche911 wrote:How poor is your "poor performance" exactly?
Ut2k4.. averaging 60fps 1280x1024
HL2.. averaging 45fps 1280x1024
Mind you, in those 2 Direct3d games, my 9800pro was doing roughly the same fps.. about 10 lower in HL2..
seems its just direct3d games..

So you put the ABit IC7-G back in and it works better? My question is whyd you take it out, it is an awesome board. I guess you don't have to hate nVIDIA now, w00t :P

You've never heard of MSI or Abit?
SOAP:
I SERIOUSLY doubt it's the board.
Check your RAM timings, check your divider, pull up CPU-Z with each of them in Windows and compare what it sees the settings are.
There must be something set up wrong on the MSI. They're good boards.
it was the board..
Ram timings, fine, in fact, identical on the abit board..
i had the MSI set up same timings for everything.. that board is just a POS..

Well good to know you are getting the performance you deserve from your 6800GT. I have worked with 3 ABit boards and love them all. I am glad your IC7-G is working well again. For a comparison of what your 6800GT should be getting I copied my post from the nVIDIA driver topic:
I definatly recommend the newest nVIDIA drivers to you.
AMD Athlon XP 2.4 GHz
512 x2 Corsair XMS 2-3-3-6
BFG Tech 6800GT OC - default 20MHz core OC
Western Digital SATA 74GB Raptor
ABit AN7
nVIDIA 66.93
3dMarks03 - 11051
3dMarks05 - 4684
D3 timedemo1 1152x864 High detail - 76.2
nVIDIA 71.84
