I've spent the last two hours playing it, it's fucking intense. Every bit, if not more, immersive as the first two. Matter of fact, fucking cleaning my office, I'm gonna go fire it up again.
So then what do you make of Soap's comments that it blows? Where is he coming from on that one?
Its not nearly as polished nor as fun as 1 and 2 were.. Simple as that..
[size=75][i]I once had a glass of milk.

It curdled, and then I couldn't drink it. So I mixed it with some water, and it was alright again.

I am now sick.

I liked it. I'm not bored of ww2 shooters yet, so it was good fun. I rented it though, I prolly wouldn't buy it (don't care about mp).

Also I thought it was better than cod2 because this one takes place in the european theater for the whole game. (Well france to be exact). Some of the levels really feel authentic like the bombed out city. Then the last campaign is pretty epic with all the shit going down at once.

Different strokes, lack of Bigby's Reaming Fist spells, I honestly don't know. I think the game absolutely kicks ass.

I'm more than a bit of a WWII nut, so the fact that I'm willing to ignore the fact that a Sherman Firefly can take 5 hits from a PzIVH at 100 meters in this game because it's so much fun ought to tell you something.
And thank Joe Pesci there's none of that goofy-ass squad command shit like in Brothers in Arms. :puke:

Fuck I hated brothers in arms. Watching my squad of elite dumbfucks get clusterfucked at doorways...

The single player is awesome, but multiplayer is like this: be ready to drop dead at any second. you will not see anyone, hear anything, or go anywhere without dropping dead with one headshot.

My "gaming queue" has been backed up due to SWAT 4. Jesus christ I can't stop that game. I'm thinking of making maps for it. The thing for me is that it's not just "blast anything that moves"...that split second where I have to make decisions between suspects/civilians and the crazy moments where your timing is everything regarding unauthorized kills (combined with the cacophony of activity that is going on) is a fuckin rush. My next rush (which I've already played a bit of) is RS:Vegas.

As to CoD 3, the combat is visceral...especially the moments when some cunt jumps on you and you fight him off. It's a scripted event designed for both shock and pacing (and can sometimes be boring) but it is indeed effective as a gameplay mechanic. It simply works to enchance the personal brutality of the situation.

The audio in CoD 3 is also brilliant. Sitting in front of the big plasma in the middle of the surround system and you simply believe you are in a combat zone.

That immersion is the exact experience I was hoping for. Going to give it a go later today once the wife leaves for work.

I'll take a short break from Jak 2. Best platforming I've played in a long time. But there are some missions that are controller-smashingly frustrating to complete.

Crank the volume, it's a beautiful thing. My big TV lacks surround sound, something about a horse-sized dog that will eat speaker wires or some shit. :icon33:

When the map pack comes out, it's gonna blow the doors off CoD2.

You were right. I just got through the first fight, and the sound is pretty crazy when its cranked on a dolby digital system. the combat is a bit scripted like CoD2, but that was to be expected.

The battles seem to feel a bit less linear as the game moves on, but not a huge amount. I did feel like I had some more leeway in tactics than in CoD 2.

The online games I played seemed to be alot of spawn camping and general bitchery, but whenever there were open firefights it was pretty fun.

I've given up on WW2 games after CoD1. It was the same Medal of Honor stuff all over again. Can't see how games like Band of Brothers or whatever other WW2 titles are any different. The only exception being RTCW ofcourse.

Company of Heroes is really, really good. It's not a FPS though.
