Yeah, if you want to discover new shit, Pandora's the way to go. Or you could try having friends that make recommendations, but I know that having friends is pretty hard for most Q3Wers.

For downloading new music you want the hype machine, which aggregates mp3s from the music blogs.
To discover what music you want to download use last.fm or find a music blog you like.
