I had thought of starting this topic a couple of years back. Since there aren't maps being made at the high pace that they used to be made at, it's more easy to say which ones that you like/love the most. There has always been debates on what it takes to make a map the most popular and overplayed map. Some says it's what was made first after a game is released, or which ones are being run on most servers. The biggest thing that makes a map well known is the word of mouth.
So what are your favorite custom Q3 maps? Whether it is based on gameplay or looks, both are just as important as the other. I figure that everyone has a viewpoint on this topic...and it should definitely be the teller of what maps everyone likes the most. Don't be influenced by what everyone else is choosing...have your own opinion! If you are a mapper, it would be good to see your favorites are also.

I've always liked and played these maps the most out of my 1200-n-some maps. That's why I didn't do a search on the topic, as it seems like most people really like about 10 maps or so. Just curious if someone likes a map I've never heard of...maybe I just mentioned one that you haven't played? =) But then again they'll always be loving thread killers :icon23:

Coral ctf may not be a "serious league" map in terms of a competition standards .. but .. and here's the big but ....
At the time of release Willow created a map that was interesting, fun to play and it stood out from the crowd with it's unique style.
Most people I have played CTF with over the years, and there have been a few, believe you and me, (<< such a tart
) have always enjoyed a round or two on it. The map is instantly recognisable and was good enough to warrent it worthy of threewave map pack status.
For that, in my eyes it remains a classic.
But what would I know right .. I mean I've never made a map myself (and would therefore appreciate the work that went into the map, or be thankful for the free map), played RA3 with some of Europes finest, played league TDM and CTF, played 1v1 ladders in both Q2 and Q3.
