Here's a cool trick:

Hard difficulty is disabled in the demo by default. Exit the Demo and go to the Xbox 360 dashboard. Press the guide button, click on your Gamercard, go to Game Defaults, General, and set the Difficulty to Hard. Then exit the guide menu and start the demo. After you press Start -> Demo and adjust the brightness, Hard difficult is selected and you can press A to start the Demo on Hard.

This does indeed work - the game is very tough on this difficulty but quite challenging.

I wish MS would give us a remote download queue feature so we could log in to live from work and tell stuff to download.

Game is fucking cool. Like some of you guys said, I hope it's less linear in the later levels but I guess what we're getting is the scene-setting stuff. Graphics are pretty fricking cool, nicer than Gears even (if I wanted to nitpick, I'd point to the fairly frequent physics glitches on the bodies - bit too much of that wierd ragdoll vibration), gameplay is thoroughly intense and sucks you in like nothing I've played recently. Loved it.

just played the first part of the demo, and I loved it. The game just oozes quality and atmosphere. The full game can't come quick enough :)

The demo was ok. More shiny wet graphics. It was kinda spooky at a couple of points. Very linear. I'll probably pass on this.

The demo was ok. - It was better than ok, and a lot longer than demos usualy are.

More shiny wet graphics. - Well duh, its set in a leaky under water world. SHOCK/HORROR!

It was kinda spooky at a couple of points. - It was amazing.

Very linear. - What you mean the demo, thats at the start of the game for tutorials, didn't let you go anywhere you wanted at any time like later in the game? Say it aint so.

I'll probably pass on this. - Because you sir are a grade A idiot.

My only criticism of the demo was the linearity, but knowing Irrational, I'm sure the full game will be nowhere near as linear.
In fact, they've already said that the demo is a standalone and not representative of the final game.

I was impressed with the framerate considering the level of detail, although there were a few textures that jarred and made me aware this was running on a console rather than a PC.

It's a shame that this doesn't count as a Windows Live title; I would have liked to get achievements from this on the PC as well as on the 360.
A lot of people dismiss achievements as internet willy-waving, but I've found that when they're done well, they're a real enhancement to games.

Why do you take stuff like this, someone's opinion on a game, so goddamn personal somehow..? You immediately fly into this high towering jesus rage of infuriated righteousness, and i don't really understand it.

Maybe you're just a prick. That's entirely possible.

The demo wasn't half bad. The enviroment was very claustrophobic and I liked the dialog of the enemies when they didn't know you were there. The visuals were relatively impressive, and the game as a whole seems quite solid. I still don't think I'll get it, though.
