For a pre-built PC
Re: For a pre-built PC
Wow omg. I had that in my cart the whole time, kinda like a "I guess this is good?" selection. Thanks for the backup though, it seems like a good deal. It ends today though

Re: For a pre-built PC
hehe, figures.
so for $270 more you have a system that crushes that pre-built in performance and looks.

Re: For a pre-built PC
On the coolermaster case. It's a decent case with good airflow. You have to watch out how to remove the front panels for drives (I suggest using pliers as the easiest way) and you might be better of using some screws for a large gfx card instead of the screwless fixing. For all the rest it's a very nice case.
Re: For a pre-built PC
Thanks for the tip.
My dad was kind enough to help me out on this one. The extra $ allowed me to get the new Geforce 8800GTS 512mb (G92) model. This naming system is homo. I'm afraid I clicked for the original GTS and end up paying 329.99 for a old version. Assuming they got their labels right, this BFG Tech G92 8800GTS should be at least 10% faster than the previous 8800GT. The card is kinda fat, so I dont think I'll use "screwless fixing".

Re: For a pre-built PC
I'm not using a screw on my 8800GT in the Centurion 5 case and I even have the extra weight of the DuOrb cooler on the bottom. The lock is very rigid, but if it gives you peace of mind just put a screw in there anyways.
Re: For a pre-built PC
Probably a silly question, but I was wondering if rebates will stack for the same product. Like, I'm ordering 2x 2x1gb Patriot Ram for 178 dollars, but each 2x1gb comes with a $40 MIR. Since I'm getting 2 of them, will it allow a total of an $80 MIR?
New egg shows only a $40 MIR even though I have 2 quanitites of patriot ram.

Re: For a pre-built PC
That's a pretty steep price. Why not just order two 2GB OCZ XTC Platinum Rev-2s instead? DDR2-800MHz and easily overclocks to 4-4-4-12 with 2.2V of juice.

$75.99 x 2 = $151.98

Re: For a pre-built PC
Oops, the 2x Patriots are actually 153.99 (76.99 each).
However, I was wondering if each Patriot 2gb Kit will come with the $40 rebate instead of just 1 $40 rebate for both.
If I get the $80 rebate, it should be like 74 bucks for 4 gigs of Patriot ram.

Re: For a pre-built PC
I'm not sure, but they *should* give you two separate forms that you'd have to send in separate envelopes. I somewhat doubt it though.
Don't these rebates have a limit of one per household anyways?

Re: For a pre-built PC
I could always just change it to Gskill Ram with a 40 dollar instant rebate, except Patriot has CAS 4 latency (no clue what that means) and the other ram has CAS 5. I just know the CAS 4 is faster.
Re: For a pre-built PC
Read the rebate form. heh.
Also, buy quality ram from a reputable company.... especially if you expect said company to send money back to you.

Re: For a pre-built PC
Yeah, a lot of them can OC to 3.6 Ghz easily (not all), making it a perfect 1:1 ratio wtih DDR2 800 Ram. Air cooling too.
