codemasters would to a great job but since F1 is not popular in the states, we'd be lucky to see it any time soon.

Well neither is rally but that didn't stop them from making DiRT :ninja:
Hopefully it's a sign of things to come and Codemasters will take over the sim-racing scene with more European influence. With GTR2, DiRT, and now GRID, all we need is an official F1 game :D

you'll only notice slowdown on the circuit tracks when there's a ton of other cars on the screen. those tracks only make up a small portion of the game so it's not like something that will ruin the experience every single race.

the slowdown wasn't game-breaking for me at all. in fact, once i was well engrossed into the game i never even noticed it. it's there, but it's not like "OMG TIS GAMEZ IS 2 UNAPLYABLEQ!!"

Game ownz, it's no simulation though that's for sure, it's a complete arcade style racer with damage that's fun as hell. I've been playing the crap out of it for the last 3 days, challenged duhard to a match but he pussied out. I might be on tonight, probably tomorrow for sure look me up for a match and get ownt.

does it really matter? you aren't supposed to hit stuff.
+ if it's a choice between using those processor cycles for damage or better physics... i'll take the latter.

I like having damage. GRID is by no means a simulation game, it's arcade all the way, even the damage model is very forgiving allowing people to enjoy racing rather, not that you can't total your car around the first corner if you fuck up good enough.

However, aside from that, IF it was a simulation type game I would definitely like it to have damage, much like Forza 2 has. The reason is that without damage all those great realistic physics might as well be thrown out the window because it's not realistic to slam into a wall at blistering speeds then drive away like nothing happened. Damage adds an element of simulation in the sense that failing to have proper control over your vehicle results in a much more realistic end.

Also, with invincible cars there's always areas of the game that can be abused due to the fact you won't get damaged. Like going into a hairpin at stupid speeds and bouncing off a wall.

arcade games need damage... they're no fun if you can't knock the wheels off someone.
in a sim racer... it's gravy, nice if it's there but really not required. Especially since GT4, the smashing into walls has been 99.9% slower than driving correctly.

It's a lot of fun Don, if you like PGR4 you'll probably really like this. I've been putting off GTA4 just to play this demo, it's that much fun.

Probably in the final release you'll probably be able to adjust damage and it's effects.

Perhaps, you can adjust it in the demo from on to off but that's all I"ve seen so far. With it on, it usualy winds up being a demolition derby around the first corner on the euro series track. Best spot is near the back of the pack and pray you make it through the smoke and flying debris without hitting any cars.

It's pretty cool like that actualy, more than once I've dived into a cloud of white smoke with 3+ cars wrecking in front of me only to come out the other end of the cloud unscathed. Fun thrill anyway, if you make it. Usualy I wind up being near the front of hte pack and getting slammed from behind by some jerkoff that never heard of the break pedal.

It's not. You get a bunch of spackers driving around in circles trying to gang up on you. When you tell the mongoloids this isn't demo derby, they get angry and call a kick vote :dork:

I suppose that does happen from time to time, or people parking in the middle of the road just to crash you. I guess you have to just have moron evasion skills.

If he had any moron evasion skills, would he frequent Q3W? I think not. :smirk:

EDIT: First person driving games suck.
