Feels snappier, looks better, so far so good (on my Mac). The memory print is also smaller than the previous versions.
I'm using Safari and Camino, sometimes Flock, but this Firefox version might be a good deal.

Of course, for Windows there's no better browser.

when people use to say a certain browser or whatever is faster than another, i always thought it was so marginal that it didn't really matter much.

but firefox 3.0 really is that much faster. it's pretty cool.

I cant get used to the new layout, but yeah its much better.

Doesn't take long to get used to it. Mine looks almost like FF2. I've been using it for 4 months or so and been quite happy with it.

What the shit, I just installed it and it killed 6 months' worth of bookmarks. And since this version actually installs itself over the old one, I can't think of a way to get them back...

That's nice, counter is reaching 14 million now. I've been installing it on work PCs in the hospitals and silently moving the IE icon to the thrashbin.

You can get it to point to other programs like Thunderbird rather easily or even web mails with a little tweaking.

tools > options > applications > search for mailto: > set the drop down box to whatever email app you use or browse for it.

For webmail, it's a little harder. Major webmail hosts are supposed to register for support (Yahoo's fixing support on their end, for example), but since it's brand new, most webmail hosts haven't implemented it fully:

Firefox 3 also introduces support for Web protocol handlers, allowing protocols such as mailto (used in email address links) to be handled by a website rather than an installed application. Websites have to register before users can set them up as protocol handlers but Firefox 3 supports some popular services (such as Yahoo! Mail for mailto and 30 Boxes for webcal) out of the box.

You can add it to the list manually but there isn't an easy way to do this just yet.

Follow these instructions for adding gmail to your webhandler.
