games with blue skies tend to sell better than equivalent games without blue skies. they also tend to get higher metacritic ratings so i would go with the blue sky scene
Seriously, and it also applies to green, lush leafy goodness and grassy landscapes. The more the better.

Crysis was popular. The gameplay just sucked too much for it to be really good.

a bit dark (be careful not to go all doom3 on us :) ) , but very nice. the computer on the desk in the second shot looks a little bright, really nice textures and atmosphere. i like the subtle curve of the hallway in the first shot, looking forward to more :)

BJA: chuck that in an engine see how she goes! looks very nice! should run fine, only 80k tris, averaged size textures and not much alpha coverage - could hit 60fps! :P

I had the fog and ambient light hidden with these shots on and never noticed...

As for the laptop being bright, well its displaying the "cannot find" texture, so of course it is :p

I love the swiss cheese triskters texturepack. Looks great. :)

Tho, the problem with that pack is that it's very hard to make it look different then any other map that's used it before.

i thought the gameplay in crysis was great. i've replayed the pre-spaceship maps a zillion times and always come up with new and amusing ways of doing things

No, I doubt it. That shot was taken in Q4Rad, hence no soft shadows at all :p

A little bit of a cartoon environment I'm currently working on. Those ice-cream cones in the background are supposed to be trees, in case anybody wondered.

BJA, I have to ask, with your apparent professional skills, has a (game developing) company scooped you up, yet?

Somehow reminds me of Tim Burton movies... like that one!

thanks guys :) everything is unwrapped, now comes texturing and lighting.

@fKd: It's just for fun, wanted to do something cartoonish for a long time. Although I'm keeping polycount and textures at game restrictions, I'm not sure if I'll put it into a game engine.
@Plan B: I wouldn't really say that I've got "professional" skills..or any special skills at all. But yes, there have been some opportunities. Hopefully there'll be still some, when I'm finished with my uni degree.
@monaster. I've only seen Tim Burton's Corpse Bride, the movie had an incredible art style, liked it a lot. Though for this scene, inspiration came from some cg animation movies like open season.

@BJA: Really liking it, hope you get a really nice bluish or yellowish moon in there, that's the most important part for me :D. Really like the trees as well, although I would have made them taller and pointier. Have you played Psychonauts? That has some awesome pine-trees :D.

Call of Duty 4 map Im working on called mp_machina. Entirely indoors.

Working on prefabs first before fitting everything together into a map.

These are definately not the textures I intend on using :owned:

I wrote a script last night where the door shown above is triggered by a switch. If the switch is destroyed the door jams in its current position.
