What's up with the map queue at ..::LvL?
Re: What's up with the map queue at ..::LvL?
So.. I've written a couple of reviews, but the maps currently on the list have been sitting there for quite a while -- unreviewed and all. Isn't there anyone (better than myself at it) willing to chuck in a few reviews?

I just sent one in for JUL38 a couple days ago, Tig just hasn't updated the queue yet. I'm gonna do another soon. I've submitted two reviews each for the last couple updates as well; I've been trying to keep a quota.
It would be cool if some other people would commit to at least a review a month too. It's really not that big of a responsibility and LvL really needs it. Even though there are only 5 or 10 maps in the queue at a time, some maps sit there for way too long, like fKd's map or the id Software tourney which have been collecting dust for months now.

I've been kickin myself over q3dmp11 cause it's a really good map..but my computer is really being an ass on it(not decrediting the map for it). If I wrote a review on it, it'd be pretty limited, and it deserves a really long completed review because it's a great map to look at. I think that's why fkd isn't making maps for Q3 anymore.
Just in case none of you know...when a map gets reviewed, it doesn't just start getting downloads from players after the review. The good amount of downloads are done while it's sitting in the map queue before it's reviewed. q3dmp11 has been downloaded a shitload of times already..I don't think Tig just pops the exact number right away.

Well, I doubt that's the only reason he's decided to move on, but I do agree that the map deserves a serious review. I think that's the main reason why no one has touched it. People can tell what a huge project it was and they are intimidated into thinking their review might not do it justice. I've been avoiding it for a couple of reasons.
The main reason is that I've already given him a lot of the feedback that would go in my review, like how I've spent hours just standing around, looking at all the details, but once I start playing I feel like there are just too many different colors and materials flying by and my eyes get confused.
The other reason is simply that I've already written a review for him before, and I always assume authors want feedback from as many perspectives as possible rather than listening to the same guy over and over again.
Anyway, I've decided to do something I tell myself never to do and let the review fall on Tig. I don't see how he can let it go another month absent from an update. fKd, sorry bud
, but I think it's for the better.
