New Carmageddon? rofl
New Carmageddon? rofl
There's a counter on http://www.carmageddon.com that's counting down to the 1st of June, 2011. Maybe a new Carmageddon game will be announced that day. It's pretty likely actually. I wonder how shitty this game will turn out.
Re: New Carmageddon? rofl
Why so quick to write this off? The first was maddeningly enjoyable, admittedly though TDR2000 was quite bad.

FUCK YEAH!!! Loved the original
Re: New Carmageddon? rofl
Yeah but, you know, it was great because it was new, fresh, had shock factor and was something you had never seen before. I guess GTA already went to and past the point of violence that Carmageddon was infamous for. So if you take those things away, Carmageddon is left with not a lot.U4EA wrote:Why so quick to write this off? The first was maddeningly enjoyable, admittedly though TDR2000 was quite bad.
This supposed new game already reeks to much of cash-in on the "carmageddon" title alone.

It also had massive maps, a variety of crazy cars and mad power ups. Nitroing your car up to 300mph with the granite power up, smashing into a police car and destroying it in 1 hit was quality. The mad jumps you could do across the maps with the power ups etc. Either 1 of 2 things has happened; I think that you need to play it again to realise how good it was once you took away the shock factor, or I remember it too fondly in which case I do not want to play it again to spoil it!

I need to play this game to get relief from my uncontrollable need to mow down grannies on the sidewalk.

Carmageddon 1 was ace, and Carmageddon 2 was utterly fantastic.
I do wonder if they'll be able to capture the spirit of those two games or whether political correctness will ruin them. I suspect the latter.
EDIT:
Oh yeah, and they were true sandbox games long before the phrase had been coined.

I was just laughing while reminiscing of the ridiculous cover art for the original maybe two days ago. Funny news.
This line only remake is total rubbish I've ever seen!!! Fuck off!!! --CZghost

Re: New Carmageddon? rofl
I can't even begin to imagine how messy this game could be! As long as they don't try to make it "real" and keep everything over the top they will get away with the gore and violence...if they put any hint of realism in it then it will be a nightmare!
Re: New Carmageddon? rofl
I'm afraid it'll go the way of the Duke. Childish banter about feces and smearing it on walls. Sorry, but I'm way, way past finding that funny or engaging in any way.

As long as they keep the best elements from the first 2, I will be happy

I liked the Pedestrian Repulsificator. I'm sure I got a bonus for springing a hapless pedestrian through a plate glass window

I LOVE Carmageddon.
Re: New Carmageddon? rofl
Well well well. It's confirmed that it's stainless games at the helm, so who knows, this might turn out to be not as bad as I thought it would be.

BRILLIANT NEWS!!!!
:D:D:D
The other Stainless co-founder, Neil Barnden, added: "Carmageddon: Reincarnation will feature the same black humour and comic violence that made the original game such a success.
"All the laughs, the crazy power-ups, and extreme destruction will return. We will make sure the existing fans get what they want and expect from a Carmageddon game, and a new generation discovers the delights of sliding into a Cunning Stunt."

Some sneaky in game shots there of an old build of the engine. Really like the fact that they are just trying to remake the old games with a little artistic licence, rather than smashing out a "reimagining" of the game.
Juicy juicy!

Ha, I used to love that game, enjoyed driving under the on/off ramps and flattening my car into a pancake.

Re: New Carmageddon? rofl
I predict Kickstarter overexposure becoming a real problem real soon. There is talk of so many Kickstarter projects now that people will get saturated and lose interest. Tim Schafer was succesful with it for two reasons:
- his name alone brought in half a million
- the novelty of such a big name doing funding in such an unorthodox way did the rest.
And that novelty factor is wearing off, fast.
