Re: Warface
No, seems quite good. I haven't played Battlefield for seemingly years and this appears close.

Re: Warface
Don't have the patience for that progress bar. Is it that slow every time or is it installing shit locally?

Re: Warface
I thought the whole point of browser games is you didn't need to spend over half an hour downloading and installing something and need the latest graphics card?
They are supposed to use flash or java which you already have installed

You are absolutely right. If we'd still live in 1999 that is.DTS wrote:I thought the whole point of browser games is you didn't need to spend over half an hour downloading and installing something and need the latest graphics card?

Re: Warface
In a word, assets DTS.
Graphics, textures, models, animations and audio are what the downloads consist of.
Browser games don't rely 100% on items pre-existing on the hard disks of their users.

Re: Warface
That, and most of these triple-A "browser games" are only launched through the browser and not actually rendered by it (case in point: Quake Live).

I am really trying to get into any game with no luck at all
There appears to be people on the servers but I simply cannot join

Re: Warface
Yeah, because surely Flash and Java can do high level graphics rendering. Sounds like Steam, Xbox, Playstation are all going to be completely obsolete because everyone will just play Crysis in Internet Explorer from now on. Excuse me, I'm going to go and install HTML5 and HTTP on my computer now.

Strictly speaking, yes they can, but I won't detract from the point you're trying to make any more.obsidian wrote:Yeah, because surely Flash and Java can do high level graphics rendering.
Re: Warface
They should rename this game "poorface"...

No, don't just drop a pedantic turd like that, and then quickly suck it back in.
Give me examples!
Re: Warface
Minecraft
No seriously, with Java and Flash too you have OpenGL and undoubtedly DirectX libraries as well, so there's nothing stopping you from using all sorts of fancy hardware accelerated features of the GPU in there. Performance is another issue, but Android games (written in a variant of Java) seem to do just fine.
