@4:50 shes like "we don't know what the best questions are to ask"
everyone knows the question..
thx for the linkage

Re: A sneak peak inside Google and NASA's new quantum supercompu
why I'm waiting to get a new PC
Re: A sneak peak inside Google and NASA's new quantum supercompu
so its fastÉ
couple of apple software updates ought to fix that !

it is about time!
Re: A sneak peak inside Google and NASA's new quantum supercompu
the thing to take awat from quantum computing , is that it is a very specialized tool. Even with cost not being an issue, it will prolly never replace desktop every day computing... they are extremely good with large number calculations, that's where they shine. Running quake3 on the other hand, not so much.
Re: A sneak peak inside Google and NASA's new quantum supercompu
but it should compile a map in seconds, amirite

Re: A sneak peak inside Google and NASA's new quantum supercompu
It'll compile a near infinite number of possible map layouts and hand you the best of the bunch in seconds.

Quake 3 bot AI, so much.Tsakali wrote:the thing to take awat from quantum computing , is that it is a very specialized tool. You would first have to define what consitutes 'best'obsidian wrote:It'll compile a near infinite number of possible map layouts and hand you the best of the bunch in seconds.

I don't know - with large and super efficient quantum computing centers distributed around the globe there could be a shift towards personal cloud computing where you use cheap devices locally and offshore your intense calculations. In the far future!Tsakali wrote:the thing to take awat from quantum computing , is that it is a very specialized tool. But then again; no normal person is actually smart enough to require intense calculations.
Re: A sneak peak inside Google and NASA's new quantum supercompu
That's an interesting thought: With near unlimited calculations it would be possible to tackle for example hard mathematical problems using formalised mathematics and a brute force attack to distill proofs. This would shift the practice of mathematicians in a major way.Tsakali wrote:You would first have to define what consitutes 'best'obsidian wrote:It'll compile a near infinite number of possible map layouts and hand you the best of the bunch in seconds.
Same goes for programming itself. Once you specify what you want you could brute force through a wide array of programs and see if they match the specification.
So this would cause a shift from "how?" to "what?" and ultimately to "why?".

yeah, that would be one way to bring that power home.. matter of fact the link mentions something along those linesPext wrote:
