Question

Post by Krazy_K »

I used to play unreal 2k4 alot and I was just learning how to 1v1. But when I look for tournament servers on quake every single one is insta , osp, or excessive. Not one is just regular deathmatch weapons. My question is why?

they exist .. try a different server browzer like ASE or Gamespy3d .
i assume your using the browzer that came with the game.
OSP servers uses regular weapons ,it's virtually like quake3 except for a few more added bonus tweaks and enhancements that should have come with the game.

And if you stay on here longer than the five seconds most people do (EG they come with a problem, we help fix it, they leave) dont take anything in here seriously.....

Krazy, something you mind find useful to know:

OSP is a modification that enhances Quake 3 rather than alter it. So you get the standard Quake 3 with a load of useful features bolted on top of it. More control over graphics (the heads up display, player characters, etc), more control over the game (warmup periods before match starts, extra options for voting changes). There's even an extra game type (Clan Arena) in there.

ASE (All-Seeing Eye) supports a lot of games and is used to find online games in progress. When you set it up, you'll just want to configure the options for Quake 3. Disregard all the other games and their options for now.

Anything else you'd like to know more about?

The All-Seeing Eye is a computer software application designed to help Internet gamers find game servers. You must download and install it before you can use it.

To download the All-Seeing Eye, click here.

Mods (short for modifications) are made by the general public, and can be entirely new games upon themselves. They can include new items, weapons, characters, enemies, models, modes, textures, levels, and story lines.

OSP is a mod for Quake 3 that is designed to facilitate competitive, yet flexible, match play. OSP does change any of the core game elements or its dynamics -- its all default Quake 3 in this regard. Instead it makes it easier and more convenient for players and admins alike to enhance the Quake 3 experience through enhanced client/server-side support and options.

OSP allows you to effectively change everything in the interface so that it fits your whims. There are also added parts to the multiplayer that make it easier than standard quake for tournament play. Such improvements include only allowing players to start a match after each had declared their readiness, additional colors for names and rails, additional stats on the score window, and much more.

To download OSP, click here.

Good Luck and Happy Fragging! :)
