Overclocking my 3000+ 64

Hey you guys!!!

Well the title says it all!!
So far i got the FSB running @ 222 instead of 200 but everytime
i go higher than that it freezes and refuses to start so i gotta reset
the mobo etc

How do i ramp it up more?

Depends on many things, are you using a memory divider? Otherwise it may be your memory that's limiting you. What are your temperatures, idle/load?

Do you really have to start building your comp around over clocking, or can you just jump right into it?

Do lots of reading on it beforehand and overclock s-l-o-w-l-y, paying attention to system temps and stability.

what mobo are you running?

with my msi k8n Neo2, when i pass 220-222 my First two sata ports Die on me, My 3rd and 4th are still good to go..

i guess msi dident want to include the first two on the PCI lock side

Runnin stong at 250FSB btw,

What core? I have the same processor and have been thinking about overclocking mine as well.

edit: Mine's a Newcastle btw.

you guys need to forget about clocking that fsb up. drop your ram too 166, keep tightest timings and go for clock speed.

a64's are not like the xp's. fsb speed does nothing compared to the gain you'll get from clock speed.

Yea, I've got my A64 3700+ up too 2.8GHz stable.

I have it on a memory divider so my RAM is running stock FSB, but with tight timings. If you aren't crashing from overheating, then you might need to up your voltages. When I O/C'd mine I had to up the voltage on my CPU, only very slightly though.

but i am a man and run my ram at 1:1
