playing videos causes pc to slow to a halt.
I think I might've posted this thread once before in the past. well, this problem still persists. Everytime I attempt to play any type of video, be it mpeg or avi, my pc will slow down, not crash, but slow to where it'll take a minute for it to process a mouse click. The video won't play aswell. Oddly, videos in youtube will play..

maybe because it wouldn't make a difference since I've tried several ones and they fail to work properly+JuggerNaut+ wrote:yet you neglect to say what player(s) you use.

So have you tried QuickTime or WMP Classic? Perhaps trying out WMP11?
How about a codec pack?

I've adjusted those before, my games run fine, like Doom 3 and Half-life 2 run flawless. So I don't think it's memory, until the video plays then the memory is low, I've adjusted virtual memory aswell. No improvement.Scourge wrote:I'm thinking low memory. You might try checking your available memory while it's crashing if possible. Also virtual memory settings.
Neat little test you can do...
Go to http://www.nhl.com, click on "Videos" at the top and click on any 700k link for a game. If it gives you crap ie. not playing, slowdown; it's clearly a codec problem. The videos use WMP.
Process of elimination bud.
