Wondering if anyone can please help out with this.
Textures in certain maps appear to be splotchy, like pjw3dm5 and unitooldm6 (a cel shaded map). It's where there's shadows cast from the lightmaps I think.
Is there some setting i dont have right in q3?

does it come up in screenshots?
corrupt graphics like that is usually a driver/card issue. enough cooling on the gpu?

probably, I'll try to take a few.
It only happens on some maps, like the ones I listed so its not an overall issue. I'm thinking maybe the textures on those maps are low res perhaps.
