Agreed on convincing everyone to upgrade. I wish server admins werent still running q4max 0.73 + q4 1.1, but they are. Punishing the players for lazy / unobservant admins isnt the solution though. Plenty of admins wont notice you've released a final version, and it'll just mean there are more server...

I see no reason to delete any files, except for those that are corrupt. You cannot be sure that servers have taken the old version down, and if you remove it then you'll stop people being able to connect. Gamespys stats page doesnt take account of the 1.3 servers as they need to update it to work with the new protocol - thats why its dropped off the bottom. BTW, I think it's still possible to do quake-3-like transfer by setting set net_serverDownload "1", but I've not tried it. . Nope, 1 is "web page redirect", which closes q4 and opens your web-browser at the URL referenced in si_serverURL, which hopefully you've setup with a page...

You can move the timer around with hud_timerposition.

Better, is to do "callvote mode duel" as duel is far superior to Tourney, which is the one with the banner :)

"Senior Software Engineer" is what my card says, IIRC. Generally I simplify that to "Computer Programmer" for non-techy audiences, or C++ coder for techy ones (I delve into other languages when I need to, but C++ is what I've done pretty much solidly for the last 7 years, so...).

You're making the assumption we're not professionals too.... coding has been my day job for quite a while now, and arQon even longer. FWIW, using the mapcycle.scriptcfg functionality from vq4 (and therefore all mods) anyone can change cvars in the map cycle. Doesnt work with voted maps of course tho.

Re bots, it may be because the map hasnt been clipped in a suitable way for bots. The techniques that applied to Q3 mapping still apply to Q4, even though it doesnt ship with bots.

That is true, but sometimes routers are too clever for their own good, and depending on how the software is written its possible to break NAT. Pls post the whole log of the startup, because I bet the bit right at the top where it lists the search path and all pk4's will show the issue.

The error means it cannot find the pak*.pk4 from the cd. You did install them to the same path as fs_basepath, right?

1.2 may only be a few lines different, but 0.74 is more than a few lines different, and we need to make sure everything that was partially complete at the point that id released 1.2 is actually finished off completely. Having your release schedule dictated by someone elses release schedule isnt good...
