I haven't sorted what I'm doing wrong yet - any other server admins getting things like this?

WARNING: map mp/q4cmp_entry_25 and gametype Tourney are incompatible, aborting map change

seems that I can only run in DM. Any other si_gametypes, result in this error.

check the I/O for problems (disk). Are all the games on the same hard drive? Then check the defrag status of those big pk4s.

Thanks, pjw. Yup about the DMG, I actually had the RA and the DMG swapped. Maybe will put them back. Agreed, mostly. q4hexdm1beta2.pk4 for example, should be removed because the map has gone final. If anyone is still running that beta, then they should be broken.
