okay, solved it

it was openal. the main reason ioq3 worked in my main q3 folder is because i had it disabled.

ioq3 and q4 fails it

Basically both of them can not start, they just bomb to desktop without error, after the "initialization screen flash" (q4 gray, ioq3 white)

gffx5200 (fuck you my good card died), latest forceware. Yes, it worked on this spec before
