This new version is re-built from the ground up. I kinda got lazy and rushed it last time for a quick size beta test, but this new one is much more better, with caulk (not that its needed) and a lot better brush placement. I'm hoping it will be much easier to vis as well.
As i said before, i removed most of the pipes, and replaced them with the tech trim from Q3 (which the texture is remade and looks great even if i do say so myself
), and the frame rate is much higher now, along with a much better brightness level.

And you draw this conclusion from what? A test build I've released in the 6-7 years of stuff I've released. Whatever you say guy! You so don't know me at all dude. I wouldn't call effort having someone else do something for you because you don't know how.MKJ wrote:theres to say that, unlike you, odium is actually taking time and effort to optimize his work :gasp:
BTW, I know from playing around with DM6 that you really need to add some solid caulk inside the large curved wall blocking the railgun walkway from the rest of the level... and you have to get the portals right there.
This might be obvious to you, I dunno.

Already did that. Believe me, the last level was a shell, just for structure.Foo wrote:BTW, I know from playing around with DM6 that you really need to add some solid caulk inside the large curved wall blocking the railgun walkway from the rest of the level... and you have to get the portals right there.

This one, its all caulked in unless its supposed to have texture, and there are none (ZERO) spots from outside, as well as all curves are caulked, and the skybox will be a simple brush not a hollow box.
I'm hoping that those were the cause of bad vis before. Either way, the removal of those lights and pipes has improved speed a LOT, so it should be playable even with no vis. But i wont settle for that dont worry.
FWIW, I posted a thread a couple of days ago and from it found out that lightmaps are possible.. There's even a tutorial to do it, here:

Looks like a lot of work tho ;(

Erm, let me see if i get what your saying...PhantomLORD wrote:to o´dium
did you thinking of puting original q4 textures, and the size of map will be smaller, and you will dont have that much job, and maybe lightning stuff will be better, like that red-theme textures on bloodworks, or fragging yard or edge
Use Quake 4 textures so that the file size is smaller?
Well, already ahead of you. There are a few textures that will NEED to be my own, but for the most part now they are Quake 4 textures and it still looks like the original.
Dont worry, everything in the last one was un-optimized, slow, buggy and temp. The final will be much more polished. Hell even I'm amazed at how close I got a few things.
If you insist on this do it in another thread were it will get the attention it deserves. This one will only get clogged up because of this shit.Kiltron wrote:Kiltron release work! odium act like dick! (again) Kiltron responds! Now Kiltron the dick!
Same shit, different day! Let's move on.
I'd offer to vis this map even finish it (and it'd be done tomorrow) but somehow that's probably out of the question.
No that's not what I'm referring to. I'm referring to my recent map release and how he felt the need to just come post a large picture of a purse. For what? You're exactly right, it's unnecessary and clogs up the thread. You guys can back him up for that stupid shit all you want, but he does it all the time and it's quite rude. As a community we're supposed to help and promote each other, not act as dicks towards each other to be cool or something. For the record, I don't do that shit to anyone and those that do, should learn not to.
