reading the thread, i was agreeing most of the way that when all the quakes started they all had issues that were stupid and then improved up later. but what MKJ says is right.. since q4 MP (what we're really concerned about) is based so much on q3, it really seems that they have not learned anythin...

i've had a similar problem with ra3, even when i set q3config to read only.. my solution was to copy my entire config into my autoexec.cfg and set that to read only.

also wanted to note.. it seems most purists don't like the q3dm6 remake because of item locations and certain jumps. i'm still at work and haven't had a chance to try it myself yet, but from what i read on ESR's comments page.. there's no ledges on the doorways to sit on, and the rail to bridge jump...

that looks pretty normal. a perfect connection will have no yellow.

i wouldn't increase in the net_clientmaxrate beyond 16000. i had it at 25000 for a while and when i put it back down to default my ping/performance was much better.

q4 is highly CPU dependent. concentrate on getting the fastest cpu you can afford.. i wouldn't worry about top end graphics card.

has a few different posts from users with benchmark scores. from what i can see, you can actually see improvements in resolutoins 1024x and under where it is cpu limited.

The pads fine for first person games, its just not as fast as the PC mouse/keyboard. But thats retarded you know, because you can plug an standard USB mouse/keyboard into your xbox 360 and get it working from the get go. unfortunately keyboard/mouse will not work in xbox games. usb keyboard support...

Hardly. I was good in Q3, more specifically RA3, and when I went into CoD I was in the top 3 nearly every time in frags simply because FPS skills do transfer. If the person you played was good in QW/Q2/Q3/UT200X, then they could easily just transfer those skills to Q4. Its not really amazing... i c...

there's a few things that helped me out.. fps tweaks helped, however on my system (2.3ghz amd mobile) it still chugs in heavy firefights. and putting on g_fov 100 helped in speeding things up and making it feel like q3 (also use fov 100)

i agree with the others.. that just work on getting a beta out first before freaking out over lighting. we have to play it on our own .cfg's first before complaining.
